Hyacinth's Mission & Philosophy

Our mission is to assist seniors on fixed incomes, living alone or in facilities to:

Continue living with dignity in their own homes;

Remain physically safe in those homes;

Achieve optimum wellness of body and spirit;

Decrease loneliness, enhance happiness;

Ensure that they are able to access the necessities of daily life;

Provide them with what they need to improve their quality of life;

Assist in maintaining social connections, friendships and a strong bond with family.

We provide services for the elderly, at their request or that of their family. And, as much as is possible, we provide services at no or low cost to the elderly who cannot pay and have no family, especially those who live independently or in nursing homes, and struggle with finances. We also provide complementary services to their families who may be unable to spend as much time as they would like with their loved ones. Moms and Dads carry a lot of responsibility today, caring for kids, parents, themselves. What's needed is more time. That's where we can help. By providing your family with the additional assistance and time required to care for elderly loved ones, we also provide  balance and peace of mind.

Our Philosophy

There is a moral imperative to enrich the lives of resource-poor seniors. In every community, there exists a silent population—indigent seniors—who have weathered the storms of life, contributed to the fabric of society, and now face the dusk of their years with little more than the bare essentials. While providing food and shelter is an indispensable foundation for their well-being, these basic provisions alone do not answer the deeper needs of the human spirit. To merely feed and house our elders is to fulfill only the minimum of our collective responsibility. The higher calling, the truer act of charity and justice, is to offer resources and options that enable happiness, belonging, and a sense of purpose.

Food and shelter are the starting points of compassion, not its end. If we are to call ourselves a just, humane, and grateful society, our giving must extend further—to the heart, the mind, and the spirit. By offering indigent seniors resources and options that foster happiness and purpose, we invest not only in their well-being, but in the health and conscience of our communities.

We strive for a world where the twilight years are not marked by scarcity, but by meaning; where no elder is left behind with only crumbs when life still holds so much to savor. In doing so, we uphold the dignity of all, and set a standard of care that ennobles ourselves as much as those we serve.
